Chambre d’élégance 1 is distinguished from the other élégance rooms by the tower in the room, in which a semi-circular sofa is built in. Perfect for reading a book or falling asleep daydreaming on it. In addition, this room has air conditioning and the most spacious bathroom.

The estate

Characteristic tower

The Manoir’s distinctive tower may be the first thing you notice as you drive down the driveway. Showing off the French flag, it gives a lot of character to the building. The inspiration for our logo.

5.5 hectare park

More than five acres of private parkland surround Manoir de Plaisance. With its water and trees, the grounds are a perfect breeding ground for healthy wildlife. While strolling the grounds, you’re bound to encounter our ducks and if you’re lucky many more, including deer, herons, beavers, cormorants and kingfishers.

Saltwater pool

We have a large pool of 7 by 14 meters. It is a saltwater pool that produces its own chlorine. This has two big advantages for you: It smells less strong and it is milder for your skin, eyes, and bathing clothes. The pool is not heated, so it is open from the end of May to the end of September.

French balconies

Typical and beautifully designed French balconies give the front of the Manoir a stately, yet friendly and graceful look. All Chambres d’élégance have several of these French balconies, blending the outside and inside delightfully together.

ornamental ponds

Water plays an important role in the park. Therefore, the estate is located in a protected nature and wetland area. In the upper corner of the park is a small lake with its own water source. The lake feeds several ponds via a stream.

Secluded pool

The pool is located in a particularly quiet part of the park, away from the Manoir. Everything there is green and wooded. Perfect privacy we call it.

opulent dining room

In the dining room, there is a large table measuring no less than 4 metres in length. Enjoy breakfast in style in this dining room, featuring an original fireplace and en-suite doors leading to the salon. The room is also well suited for meetings and other business gatherings, offering a stylish and elegant setting.

Serene Garden Views

From the manoir, beautiful views over the park garden unfold on all sides. Large windows and French doors allow an abundance of soft, natural light to flood the interior, ensuring that the garden can be fully enjoyed even in less favourable weather.

Century-old trees

In the park you will find beautiful trees, large and small, green and bright. There are plenty of spots scattered around the grounds where you can sit quietly, for example, to read a book or have a nice chat over a glass of wine.

Authentic Salon

The grande salon of the Manoir is freely accessible during your stay. Help yourself to a drink from the self-service bar, relax on one of the antique sofas, or write a postcard at the former residents’ writing desk. Old family portraits of those who once lived here hang on the walls.

Sunbeds & umbrellas

Thanks to the generous space around the pool, you will always find a quiet spot for yourself. There are sun beds and umbrellas waiting for you to enjoy the sun or shade quietly after your swim. Grab a delicious cold drink or ice cream from the pool house and relax!

Walls full of flowers

On all sides of the Manoir, the facade is overgrown with the most beautiful flowers. The cheerful colors of the roses, vine and other flowers give the Manoir that extra bit of French atmosphere.

Verdant Oasis

Because the estate is located in the marshland of Le Marais Poitevin, with several streams winding through the park, it remains lush and green year-round. Even during the driest periods, Plaisance is a verdant oasis filled with blooming flowers.

Experience the seasons

Each season has its own charms. Autumn is a particularly beautiful time, with trees displaying a stunning palette of colors, along with ripe grapes and other fruit from the garden.

Wildflowers

We let the lawn around the pool grow and bloom. That means wildflowers are blooming, which is ideal for bees and insects. More flowers, more bees and more privacy. This method with wild flowers we apply in more places in the park.

Gastronomy

In French culture, the art of cooking and dining together holds great importance. Here, exceptional gastronomy is approached with care and time. Both on the estate and beyond, you can immerse yourself in this experience and taste the flavors of the region.

Breakfast Menu

A fixed selection is complemented by à la carte extras of your choice. The standard breakfast includes fresh bread, sweet spreads, cold cuts, a selection of cheeses, and fresh fruit. The extras consist of a variety of hot and cold beverages, eggs, and yogurt, all included in the room rate.

Indoors or Outdoors

You may choose to enjoy your breakfast indoors or outdoors. Indoors, you are seated at the long dining table, surrounded by a soothing atmosphere of times past. Outdoors, you can savour the tranquillity and the enchanting French morning light at French bistro tables.

Refined Brunch

You may choose for a luxurious brunch, always enjoyed privately with your travel companions. For €15 per person, in addition to all the fresh breakfast treats, you will enjoy strawberries, avocado, a poached egg on toast, and a glass of champagne or a mimosa.

Homemade soup

Although dinner is not served every evening at the Manoir, you may choose, on the day of arrival, a homemade soup with bread and a selection of cheeses. After what might have been a long day of travel, you can remain on the estate and enjoy a fresh meal for €10 pp.

Snacks

For a light appetite, a variety of tasty options are available. From crunchy nuts and chips to refreshing ice creams — everything is available all day at the honesty bar. Pair them with a delightful drink and enjoy the moment like a god in France.

Sharing boards

On the estate, a selection of cheese and sharing boards is available. Perfect for a refined savoury treat by the pool or as a light dinner after an extensive lunch out. This way, you can fully enjoy the Plaisance surroundings without leaving this little paradise.

Pétillant de Plaisance

Upon arrival, you are treated to a delightful bottle of Pétillant de Plaisance, our refreshing 0.0% bubbles. Complex and floral in character, crafted from white grapes with verbena and jasmine. Can’t get enough? It is also available at the honesty bar.

Honesty bar

On the estate, two self-service honesty bars are available, one in the Manoir and one in the pool house. Based on trust, you may help yourself and note your consumption to be added to your room bill. A wide selection of drinks is available.

Illy coffee

At Manoir de Plaisance, only Illy coffee is served, renowned worldwide for its exceptional quality. This Italian coffee is carefully served at breakfast and is available without limit in your room, always included in the room rate.

Surroundings

La Rochelle

A historic port city with atmospheric streets, excellent restaurants and impressive architecture, including the famous Tour de la Chaîne and Tour Saint-Nicolas. La Rochelle has the oldest operating town hall in France. Lively all year round.

Île de Ré

Besides idyllic sandy beaches, Île de Ré has much more beautiful nature. Take the bike paths through the salt fields, forests and along deserted beaches. Or visit the nature reserve near Loix, Les Portes-en-Ré and Lilleau des Niges, where you can spot the most beautiful birds. Tip: Park the car for free in front of the bridge and take the bus for 1 euro.

Boyard Ville

Boyardville is a charming coastal village on the island of Île d’Oléron, overlooking the famous Fort Boyard. The village has an attractive marina, cozy terraces and a beautiful sandy beach. Boat trips depart from Boyardville every day to Fort Boyard and nearby Île d’Aix.

Cognac

A little more than an hour’s drive away from the Manoir, but well worth it. Especially if you are a fan of the drink of the same name. Go on a tour of the various large or small cognac houses and discover the magnificence, splendor and richness of the small town on the Charente.

Marais Poitevin

One of the largest wetlands in Europe. Because of its fairy-tale waters that meander through nature, it is also called the Green Venice. Rent a boat (with or without a guide) from Coulon, Arçais, Maillezais or Marans. Also wonderful for hiking and biking among the willows and waterways.

La Tranche-sur-Mer

A large beach, with a casino and many stores. The center of the nearby town is car-free. You can park at “La Belle Henriette”, where you can then walk straight through nature with birds and fish to the beach.

Rochefort

Founded in the 17th century as a military naval base, the city now houses the impressive maritime heritage, including the rebuilt 18th-century frigate L’Hermione. Rochefort also offers charming squares, thermal baths and museums.

Île d'Aix

A small, car-free island accessible by boat from Fouras and Boyardville. It has beautiful beaches, scenic nature, quiet villages and historical sites, including a fort and a museum dedicated to Napoleon, who stayed here briefly in 1815. It also has good restaurants.

Port-des-Barques

A peaceful coastal village located at the mouth of the Charente River, facing Île Madame. The village is known for its fishing tradition, oyster farming, and the characteristic stilted fishing huts called “carrelets.” At low tide, you can reach Île Madame on foot via a natural causeway — a truly unique experience!

Niort

The city is known for its historic center with medieval fortifications, including Niort’s impressive keep. In addition, Niort is an important center for the French insurance industry and is the gateway to the Marais Poitevin marshland.

Île d'Oléron

Île d’Oléron is France’s second largest island. The island is known for its vast sandy beaches, pine forests, wildlife, oyster farms and lively seaside resorts such as Saint-Pierre-d’Oléron and La Cotinière. You can reach it by bridge or by boat.

Brouage

Brouage is a medieval former fortified town surrounded by impressive ramparts and marshes. Once an important port for salt and trade shipping in the 17th century, it is now an atmospheric place full of history. All the great French nobility and kings used to go here.

Châtelaillon-Plage

Not far from the Manoir lies this 3 km long sandy beach with views of Fort Boyard and the island of Aix. Along the coast runs a beautiful boulevard with terraces, little shops, and a casino. The town is lively and vibrant, with beautiful pastel-colored houses.

Pointe Saint-Clément

Baie de l’Aiguillon and Pointe Saint-Clément are two viewpoints and a quiet bay between the sea and the marsh. Here you can hike in the rugged nature reserve or admire the most beautiful sunsets. Very popular with bird watchers because of large flocks of migratory birds.

Surgères

A pleasant town with terraces and a chateau in the center, less than 15 minutes by car and also accessible by bike from the Manoir. A covered market is open every day. In addition, the market is extended outside on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

De Trousse-Chemise

One of the most idyllic and secluded beaches in Europe. Famous thanks to a song by Charles Aznavour. It is surrounded by beautiful forests, ideal for combining a day at the beach with a nature walk. Also beautiful and secluded, but closer by, is Plage des Prises.

Meschers-sur-Gironde

Caves and limestone formations at the mouth of the Gironde River. The caves in the limestone cliffs were once inhabited. A little further away, but impressive nature, culture and views. Close by you will find Royan, once the seaside resort for the royal and noble French.

Saintes

Located on the Charente River, the city has a rich Gallo-Roman past, visible in monuments such as the amphitheater and the Triumphal Arch of Germanicus. It is also in the Cognac region, so a visit to a distillery is also a possibility.

La Conche des Baleines

Plage de la Conche des Baleines

Miles of beach on Île de Ré. Wide, flat sloping sea, fine sand, and amazing sunsets. Known for its lighthouse and its breathtaking beauty, but less crowded than at Saint-Martin-de-Ré.

Plage des Minimes

Without a doubt the best urban beach in La Rochelle. Very lively in summer with views of the Atlantic Ocean, the lighthouse at Les Minimes and Fort Boyard. Includes amenities such as toilet, shower and lifeguard.

Fôret de Benon

One of the largest forests in the region, just around the corner from the Manoir. Perfect for a quiet forest walk, bike ride or picnic. Local legends and an almost fairy-tale atmosphere. With free access and several hiking trails.
